Paradox Management moves out of its current address and into the virtual future..
After 10 years at our Newcastle premises, Paradox Management is saying goodbye and moving forward.
There comes a time in business where things have to adapt and change and that's exactly what is happening with Paradox Management. As many of you would know, for over 10 years Paradox has had a giant office in Devonshire House on King Street; Including 3 studios and several offices, but with changes in the entertainment and marketing industry from 2001 to 2011 this excess of space is no longer required.
When Aaron Little took over operations at Paradox in 2001, the industry was very different. Casting was completed in physical office space, composite cards were sent in the mail to source work for talent and talent visited daily to sign contracts, update measurements, get photos, and just to say ''hi'' we even hand wrote talent's contact information on index cards and faxed headshots! In 2001, Paradox had one computer that was rarely used (keep in mind back then only dial-up was available with speeds of 54 kilobytes per second in comparison to up to 20,000 kilobytes per second that we are used to today 370 times faster!). It wasn't until October 2003 that our first electronic database was created, which we still use today with thousands of contacts (and its fits on a memory stick thumb drive!).
With the invention of broadband and social media the internet has changed everything including interaction with talent and clients, and the entire casting process as a whole. Briefs are now received by email, talent can email us pictures and we can forward those to clients in a flash. We can webcast and upload casting videos to clients around the world and send information directly to handheld devices belonging to both our talent and clients. The world has changed and so has ours.
Now in 2011, the Paradox office was becoming empty, with our agents out in the field and on location or in different cities and our talent using email and phone to stay in touch regarding castings, upcoming work and other information. These days they say 'Hi' via email or Facebook, rather than in person. We can text to book a job, we can youtube a showreel and we are even moving towards an environmentally sustainable approach to business where soon we will be virtually paper-free!
So we have decided it is time to leave our giant empty physical address and begin to venture out in the world in a more hands-on, dynamic approach - giving us more time to source work, create work and focus on the future of our talent and our brand, Paradox Management.
In fact, one of our Booking Agents, Ashley Doran said to Aaron several days ago, ''I've just realised I can run the whole office from my smartphone!''; He said this whilst he proceeded to suggest talent for a major feature film being filmed in Australia. Which just goes to show that the times have really changed and, for us, they are changing for the better.
All Paradox acting classes will now take place at Newcastle Arts Centre, 246 Parry Street, Hamilton East, in the Black Box Theatre and within their studio's. Further details regarding our classes will follow in the next few weeks.
